Paddleboards with Art: A Collaboration Making Waves

Paddleboards with Art: A Collaboration Making Waves

A Creative Partnership between IFACH Woodworks and Kassandra Studio

When Santiago stepped into my studio, an inspiring conversation unfolded about nature — our shared source of inspiration.

He told me about his sustainable wooden paddleboards and kayaks, handcrafted with patience and respect for the material. We both felt that my vibrant, nature-inspired art would harmonize beautifully with his creations.

From that first meeting, ideas, sketches, and prototypes began to take shape — and now, the very first paddleboard is already in the making.

I’m beyond excited to see the finished boards soon — and to experience art in a whole new way: on the water, under the Valencian sun.

Sustainability meets Aesthetics

A homage to nature

IFACH Woodworks is a small, local company from the Valencia region that builds handmade wooden paddleboards and kayaks — each crafted with great care and deep respect for nature. Every piece is unique, carrying the natural beauty of the wood in both form and spirit.

Because protecting the sea begins on land.

Founder Santiago even planted his own small forest — currently home to around 24 trees. From one tree, up to three paddleboards can be created.

All models are made exclusively to order, ensuring a truly sustainable process — mindful, transparent, and alive.

A Glimpse Behind the Process

After selecting the most suitable designs, we created full-scale mockups and refined the final choices.

As a test, one motif was applied to a wooden sample to study the materials and surface transitions. We quickly learned that smooth gradients behave differently on wood — instead, the natural grain determines the exact edges and contours of each artwork.

Bringing Art to Life

Right now, the first board — the “Tamarit 112” model — is already being built. The next step will be applying and sealing the artwork directly onto the wood. At the end of October, we’ll meet at the workshop to integrate the art in person — of course, with cameras ready to capture this exciting process.

Help Us Decide the First Design

Until mid-October, our Instagram followers can vote for which design will be brought to life first.
