Behind the Canvas: The Journey of the "Good Morning" Triptych

Behind the Canvas: The Journey of the "Good Morning" Triptych

A spark of life: The genesis of the idea

For this work, I had a special person in mind – an art collector with whom I had discussed her favorite colors and preferences. Yellow, she said, should be the color, powerful and full of life.

She associated it with a clear message: "Hurrah, I'm still alive." Every morning, when she wakes up and looks at the painting, it should be a sign – a proof that she's still here, despite the health challenges she faces.

The size of the work was to be between 1 m x 1 m and 1.5 m in width. It could gladly be a two-part painting. But while working on it, I had the idea to add an optional middle section. This way, she can flexibly choose between two parts or use the third element to extend the work and create an even more intense effect.

A Sunrise in Colors

I wanted to begin and end the artwork with yellow. It's the main actor, as this color is considered the happiest of all colors. Yellow symbolizes optimism, energy, and joy – it's the color of the sun, representing light, warmth, and zest for life.

A Vibrant Harmonious Color Family

To create a harmonious yet dynamic color language, I chose a combination of warm and cooler yellow tones, complemented by vibrant orange, subtle magenta, and a warm pink tone as an accent.

A symbol of hope and strength

Orange brings dynamism and liveliness to the work, while magenta lends a deeper emotional resonance and harmony. The combination of these colors radiates both physical and emotional energy, making the painting a source of joy, strength, and inner balance.

These warm tones are like a sunrise – a symbol of hope and strength.

Hidden Messages: Positive Energy in Detail

Invisible, small messages are hidden in the work, not immediately recognizable, but present nonetheless to convey additional positive energy.

Lively Brushstrokes: Momentum and Dynamics

There's movement in the brushstrokes – they're sweeping and multifaceted, powerful like life itself. The painting guides the viewer through calm phases and into a wild mix, a balance like the interplay of day and night.

Light and Shine: The Role of Golden Highlights

The golden highlights I've integrated reflect light in different ways – sometimes they shine brightly, sometimes they shimmer gently. This play of color and light creates new details and impressions depending on the time of day.

A sunrise for a positive start to the day. Good morning.

This painting is meant to show her every morning anew: "Hurrah, I'm still alive." It's a work that not only brings joy but also confidence and strength.
